THE FLAME HAS LOST HER LIMBS

The moon in your eyes,
I remember how it glowed
Before the winds came
& put out its flame

The fireplace in your heart,
I remember the warmth
Before its coals became ice.
The way the fire crackled,
Resonating with the music
in my heart,

I remember, I remember everything,
But love is like sweetened gall,
An alloy of pain & pleasure,
& a reminder that poisons
Are not always bitter!
