I know we love works that are William Shakespeare’s

for his words were simply spears

those plays, works of prose and poetic sonnets

But dear poets,

we all must not as William, shake spears

for if we do, who will shake the guns?

Who will shake the daggers?

Who will shake the swords?

We know that William was born
with inky spears in his hand

But yours could be a an inky gun
Shake it, until all the bullets are gone

Keep not your original yourself in the rear:
Shake not Shakespeare’s spear
